Queensland Writers Centre works with the Walter Reid Cultural Centre and Rockhampton Regional Council to present these workshops in Rockhampton.
Murder Your Darlings with Jennifer Barrett
Your babies are born in the first draft and you need to either raise or kill them in the rewrite. It’s a writer’s nature to fall in love with the words you write and there is nothing wrong with indulging the occasional fling with your own cleverness.
But when it comes to rewriting and revising, you have to learn to harden your heart, exercise some tough love, and sometimes murder your darlings.
This workshop is suitable for any writer who has written a story or novel and is unsure how to develop it. Jennifer Barrett will show you how to look at your work through new eyes and be ruthless with your words.
When: Saturday 17 April. Workshops run from 9.30am – 4pm
Where: Walter Reid Cultural Centre, Corner Derby and East Streets, Rockhampton
Cost: QWC members $85, Concession members $75, Non-members $115
