Historical novels, and creative non-fiction, are becoming increasingly popular. Nerida Newton (The Lambing Flat) will guide you through recreating times, events and places in history accurately and evocatively. Nerida will outline the resources available and methods for researching the details of every-day lives. This workshop will give you a broader knowledge of resources from which to access historical fact, and methodologies for translating that fact into compelling prose.
Nerida Newton's first novel, The Lambing Flat, won The Queensland Premier's Award for an Emerging Author, the Commonwealth Writer's Prize for a Best First novel and One Book One Brisbane. Her second novel, Death of a Whaler, was published by Allen and Unwin in July 2006. Nerida has taught a wide variety of creative writing workshops and has tutored at the University of Queensland.
